Pop’s Diner

This article is part of the Vegetarian options around Copenhagen series.

Maybe not the most traditionally vegetarian option, but the first place I’d like to open this series with is a burger joint I recently discovered: Pop’s Diner.

Pop’s Diner

At its core, Pop’s Diner is just a simple smash burger place. However, what sets them apart is execution. It’s humble, it’s juicy, it’s nice ingredients put in between good buns.

The menu is simple, 4 burgers depending on your mood (standard, bacon, vegetarian and fried chicken). I’ve only tried the vegetarian one, which is an absolute powerhouse of flavours and juiciness, but I’m told the standard “Handsmashed” is spectacular as well.

Tasty Veggie

There’s only one type of fries, and there’s only two dips: the house special and a chipotle mayo. You can also get a milkshake if you want to go for the classic diner experience.

Whoever runs this place gets it: simple menu, easy to execute on by the staff, which allows them to execute on it well, even during a moment of rush.

The beauty of this is that the combo menu, which includes a burger, fries, a dip and a beverage is 145,-. In this economy? That’s crazy value for money, especially when you consider that some other burger joints charge 180,- for a burger and fries and maybe a drink, and then charge an extra 15,- for a dip.

There’s plenty of outdoor seating which is obviously dog friendly, and is completely covered by a large bridge. There’s also a few tables inside.

Pop’s Diner is located on the northern end of Frederiksberg at Nordre Fasanvej 174, directly under the Bispeeng bridge. There’s free parking across the street in the Lidl car park. I believe the parking is only free for about one hour though.

The area itself is definitely prone to this being considered a “hip” place. It’s reclaimed real-estate under a very noisy bridge, next to a fairly busy road. It’s not where I’d take the family for a cute moment. But, when you’re out with friends, and you just want good comfort food, it’s absolutely fantastic.
